Did you know that most of us only wear 20% of our clothes for 80% of the time?
Obviously we need different types of clothes for different occasions and activities but are you hoarding clothes that you haven’t worn for years “just in case you might need them”? Well the chances are that you won’t!
A good rule of thumb is if you haven't worn something for a year then you never will wear it again and so it's just taking up space in your wardrobe. None of us have such vast amounts of space that we can afford to keep unnecessary items.
Sometimes we buy things (usually on impulse!) and then never wear them but just feel too guilty about wasting the money to actually get rid of them - yes, we've all done it! Everytime you see this item you feel a new pang of guilt so ... get rid of it once and for all!
Are you keeping clothes which are too small for when you go on that diet and can fit into them again? Well throw them out – they are only being a depressing reminder and besides, if you do lose weight then you deserve to treat yourself with some new clothes!
Remember that you don't have to literally throw unwanted clothes away; there are a number of options and all are environmentally friendly as they involve re-cycling. You can either donate them to a charity shop, sell them on Ebay, organise a sale amongst your friends and donate the proceeds to your favourite charity or get together with a few like minded friends of a similar size and have a clothes swop where you just exchange unwanted clothes with each other -all of these are much more fun than constantly being reminded of your mistakes every time you open your wardrobe!
